The Design School of the IADE was officially has accepted as member of Association CUMULUS in 10 of May of 2003. This Association is, since has some years the network more important of the Europe in the domain of the education of Art and in special of Design.

Initiate in 1990 by the University of Art and Design in Helsinki and the Royal College of in co-operation with Danmarks Designskole, Gerrit Rietvelt Academy, Universität Gesamthochschule Essen and Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna.

The CUMULUS has as motto “a excellency and the innovation", intends through the cooperation of its members and the interchanges of professors and students, to integrate other institutions the global level, is example the Central Academy of Fine Arts CAFA of Beijing.

To debate the questions related with the education and the practical of the Design, the CUMULUS promotes two meetings annually: the autumn, especially directed to the Professors and of the Spring, for Rectors and the Directors of the Institutions of Education. It is also in the meetings of the spring that if carry through the General Assembly and the admission of new members.

The chance that the CUMULUS provided, when inviting the IADE to organize the 2005 Spring Meeting and the Conference in Lisbon, constitutes an interesting challenge. It is foreseen to receive in May of 2005, about 300 members the CUMULUS that will come to participate in the General Assembly, as also in 2nd International Meeting of Design, Pride and Pre-Design.
