A primeira sessão das provas, ocorreu aos dois dias de novembro do ano de dois mil e quinze, pelas quinze horas e vinte minutos, com a discussão; apreciação fundamentada do currículo do candidato levada a efeito, em separado, pelo Doutor Manuel José dos Santos Silva e pela Doutora Maria João Pestana Noronha Gamito, tendo intervindo ainda os restantes membros do júri. Pelas dezasseis horas, deu-se início à apresentação pelo candidato do Relatório da Unidade Curricular, intitulado História do Design em Portugal, a que se seguiu à sua discussão e apreciação fundamentada levada a efeito pela Doutora Maria João Pestana Noronha Gamito, tendo intervindo, também, os restantes membros do júri. Esta sessão terminou pelas dezassete horas e vinte minutos.

A segunda sessão ocorreu aos três dias de novembro do ano de dois mil e quinze, pelas quinze horas e vinte minutos, com a apresentação pelo candidato da Lição intitulada Exposições de design e design expositivo: a curadoria como discursificação disciplinar do design português contemporâneo, a que se seguiu a respetiva discussão e apreciação fundamentada, levada a efeito pelo Doutor Fernando José Carneiro Moreira da Silva, tendo ainda intervindo os restantes membros do júri. As provas terminaram pelas dezassete horas e vinte minutos.

CALL FOR PAPERS

You are cordially invited to participate in IADE/UNIDCOM's 8th International Conference: Senses & Sensibility in Lisbon, Design as a Trade.

The conference aims to provide an international forum for the dissemination and exchange of information which embraces the theoretical, applied, and/or related areas of design and marketing, and can be grouped into nine strands or categories (see information below). Such a discussion shall be accomplished through both keynote presentations, presentations by invitation, or parallel sessions.

All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed by three independent referees from the conference's international scientific committee. A selection of the best papers (i.e., firstly, the conference's scientific committee suggests a number of best papers; and then, from these, the Radical Designist's editorial board chooses the final set), with registered authors, will be published in a special issue of the The Radical Designist journal.

IMPORTANT: Please notice that the registration of at least one (co)author per submission, by the 28 July 2015, is a requirement for inclusion in the conference's proceedings, presentation, as well as publication in "The Radical Designist" Journal.

In order to provide a greater opportunity for more people to present at the conference, each accepted paper should have a different conference registrant. However, co-authors may appear on multiple papers. Papers that have not been presented at the conference and/or have not met the scientific review and acceptance criteria will not be considered for publication in the journal.

IADE at Europe's Top 100 of Architecture and Design

After being distinguished by the italian magazine Ottagono "one of the world's best design schools" (n.º272, July) IADE is once again considered one of the best Design Schools in Europe, according to DOMUS Magazine. Objectives:
Provide a comprehensive understanding of the role played by the main actions and actors of the Art and Industrial Architecture Nucleus, later (1971) called Industrial Design Nucleus, of the I.N.I.I. (National Institute of Industrial Research), institution that promoted design in Portugal by creating a seminal sector of industrial design in the Nuclei, which led to the institutionalization of the discipline between 1960 and 1974, i.e., from the time when the economic context of the Second Post War compelled the Portuguese New State’s dictatorship to develop the industrial sector to the Portuguese revolution in 1974.

Senses&Sensibility in the Right Place, is an interdisciplinary conference in the areas of Design, Visual Culture, Photography, Fashion, Advertising and Marketing. It follows the six previous international conferences held by IADE and organized by UNIDCOM, IADE research center.
From 2003 to the present we organized these conferences in collaboration with other entities, namely CUMULUS, Design Research Society and Drawing Research Network. More than 1000 papers by participants from more than 60 different nationalities were presented and published since then.

In 2013 the 7th conference traveled to Florianópolis in Brazil. Our host was UFSC - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina in an atmosphere of research booming in the largest country in Latin America.
The collaboration between IADE and UFSC started in 2007 and has been growing since then. This was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our common projects and gather much more participants and visitors to our research network.
Senses&Sensibility in Florianópolis was the right place to discuss Design, Visual Culture, Photography, Fashion, Advertising and Marketing.
